havent read the book, but any idea of a “united ” hinduism is nonsense and propaganda used for nefarious purposes . bjp stuff . they are trying to replace all the thousands of indian gods, and in particular goddesses ,by that creep ram, who , after doing his big macho number of freeing his wife from ravanna, then ditched her because a dhobi doubted that she could have remained untouched by said ravanna…..as if that didnt tell you enough about where their heads are at . most people dont realize that the first places that were destroyed by the right wing fundamentalists in ayodia were ” sitas kitchen” and a ganesh temple . and these people have the audacity to go on and on about the temples aurangzeb destroyed….
more of that monotheistic control shit….

right wing fundamentalist of all kinds [ political , religious , or whatever ] end up causing trouble for the masses in the middle of the mess . but you will find them in all religions and all politics . it is a good hustle and can be a well paying job . stir the pot , keep the masses off balance and attack the OTHER . doubting dhobi and doubting thomas . keep them out of the kitchen and do not let them feed the elephants . and vote against them when they run for election . and as a member of the masses in the middle of this mess that is life i try to remember that the world is always in balance , even when i can not see the balance or see the reason for the mess . i just keep on trucking in the direction that leads to good food , good friends and good conversation . follow the menu . . . . . may we all find what we need at our dining table , no matter who the cook is .

you know what , i do not really think that the world is in balance . only if you look on the cosmic scale and forget this awful mess we humans have created on the planet we have evolved on . sure , it is much better for our sanity to think that there is a balance , but…
otherwise , i agree with you , and i think that voting is not a chore , but a priviledge and a duty . i postal voted in every german election during all my years in india, in spite of the fact that people thought i was nuts. you can always vote against the greater evil. ( not that thats a guarantee). we had to fight so hard for the right to vote , it makes a mockery of that struggle if we become jaded about it

the glass . half full OR half empty ?
i do not believe that the planet earth is made for humans . the planet is . and not all humans can be accused of making a mess . and if in the end humans are gone then so be it . the rats and the cockroaches and the crabgrass will not miss us . i do not think that the worms will either . when the planet is not in balance it will explode or implode or dissolve or burn or drown OR . . . . . . . . but if you [ we ] believe in the all powerful god then we just have to trust that he knows what he [ she ] is doing and that is that . our perception is only that . perception . someone somewhere is always happy . and someone somewhere is always unhappy . such is life . and the happy and the unhappy are not always the same all of the time . the adaptable among us may be able to be happy more often than not . but the swing and flow of life is such that we have to take the good with the bad most of the time . if it does not kill us it should make us stronger . someone said that some time ago .

i agree with everything, except that i do not believe in an all powerful god , and never have done . i believe that the divine is inherent in all and everything , but certainly not in a single intelligence minding us every instant of our life . the universe is just simply too big for that . if you were god , would you want to be bothered with every laugh and every tear of the uncounted beings that populate this universe ? i am sure that there are more important things to look after . i believe that we have been given the freedom and responsibility to make our own decisions , right or wrong…
and my glass is half full…in spite of the fact that i can still taste that which i have drunk…( no funny comments please…)
and aren’t we just getting sooo philosophical? better not to get me started on that , or i will go on and on , as is my wont…

in my opinion god is all powerful . and in my opinion god does not care . he does not care who wins wars or football games . he does not care to mind us and he does not want to be bothered . as heidi says he built the divine in us and that was enough . for him and for us .
i do not want to get anyone started , but i do enjoy a good conversation . i enjoy it as much as i did enjoy a good drink . and as i do not drink anymore conversation will have to take its place . i will leave philosophy for the hindus and for the educated . me i just follow the path and see where it leads . and as water i usually follow the path of least resistance . the hard path i will leave for gandhi or martin luther king or nelson mandela or for those that make up the 1 or 2 percent of humans who do not believe in god .
and god does not care is not my idea . i heard it from kurt vonnegut . some book he wrote that i read in the land where a phone call to god is a local call . INDIA . . . . . . .

Jes it’s still a local call to G-D in New York Shitty (NYS).. Just have to take the time to dial.. It does seem hardier in NYS to get thru but the good news is , it’s never busy & I can always get thru if I take the time to dial.. Here in NYS because of distractions of greed and ego..and the lack of greatfullness and abundance of self pity. I fall negigent on talking to G-D for his Support & Guidance on a daily basis. So reading this helps reconnect me to G-D which I am aware enough to do. I should touch base dailywith him because G-D guided me to save my Junky ass as I was fucked up enough to follow GOOD ORDERLY DIRECTION (GOD)

if it is illegal there is more money for the grower and the dealer . if it is legal more money for the government through taxes . make it legal with low tax rate and make sure the grower and dealer pay income tax on money made and sales tax on the retail sale . or just keep going the way it is and bust the smoker and confiscate the dealers property and throw them all in jail and pay the jailers big money and make the jailers union stronger and make the jail system private enterprise .

i know that the jail system is a growth industry . government or private . more full beds , more jailers , equals more union members . more detainees means more work . i say that we should hire more nurses and make more hospitals and put the afflicted and infected in a hospital bed rather than a jail cell . make the nurses union stronger than the jailers union . use the tax money from the legal sale of drugs to fund it . it seems that most nurses are female and most jailers are male . i say change the system and give the female vibe a chance .

Back in the 70's the Indian Govt had the right mentality. If anyone needed to take an injection all they saw was a syringe with clear liquid in it even if it was an illegal substance. Very simply if you needed an injection you were ill.Take drugs out of the police hands and put it where it belongs in the hands of the medical profession..There are 2 publicly traded company's on the stock exchange owning prisons throughout the USA... Evidently I could deal with the 60-70's Indian way of life but not 80's way in USA.. Fair to say I overcame both, When one looks back it's a blink of the eye that time flies by..on the other hand when one projects and looks forward time seems forever...

Jesse Jesarchives Edwards
May 6 at 9:12pm
tell them . and tell them that building more hospitals rather than jails is just spending the construction money on a different kind of building . it is the same amount of money . and all of the nurses i know seem to be just a little more kind than the jailers i have known .
if we care for the inmate or patient we would like to see them get well and not have to come back . but it seems that the jailers almost want to see their charges make a return visit . i say buy more syringes than handcuffs .

Use to hate police and Judges and courts and prison guards and thought all the people in jail were really cool. Nowadays I thank god for police and courts and jails that keep all the people like I used to be the fuck away from me. Guess its all how you look at things. For me it was me that had to accept personal responciiblity for my actions and I needed to change, not the system and by gods grace it has been a long long time since I have had to were a pair of handcuffs. Wish somebody would of told me earlier on that if I just stopped doing thing that were against the law, I wouldn't get in trouble with the law. Maybe somebody did try and tell me that but I guess I couldn't hear the message till I had enough Pain. Sure glad I don't live that way anymore and the only time I go to Jail is to carry a message of recovery from drug addiction and even harder, recovery from that way of life.

that fact that I only received one DUI (driving under the influence) in my life, and that was in 1974, tells me one thing:
there aren't enough police

Jesse Jesarchives Edwards
May 6 at 9:58pm
i never thought that the people in jail were cool . and i know that there is a place for the police and the military in this world . but the use of the police and the military is what i disagree with . personal responsibility is a good thing . but the government deciding what substances are good and which ones are illegal and then making a business out of locking the up the ones caught on the wrong side is what i do not like . and the money of our school children and workers going out of the country and into another country is just plain stupid . the war on drugs that nixon started is just like the war on terror that is going on now . a bad business deal , that sends our men and women and our money to another country in a losing proposition .
maybe if we went into hospitals with the message of recovery it might get heard sooner . i am not sure about this but maybe patients have better hearing than prisoners . and there are enough police , they are just not focused on the right things . busting gays was a big part of their focus for too long a time .

as a drafted participant in the vietnam endeavor i remember sitting in a room full of men dressed in green , listening to a captain tell us about the reason [ reasons ] for this deployment . i never heard him refer to H or to this book . i guess the book was not written in 1968 .
any way when i was there i only saw the local opium until friends started coming back from their r&r in thailand . then all of a sudden we started seeing a lot more of the white powder .
maybe if i had been a more willing participant of the enterprise the out come would have been different . but as a student of shipping history and the british trade from india to china i doubt it .

as I recall, the book was about the CIA politics of heroin in South East Asia, not the GIs. If you’re interested in the CIA “politics”, I would siggest the ex-CIA’s William Blum’s “Killing Hope: U.S. Military and CIA Interventions Since World War II” and “Freeing the World to Death: Essays on the American Empire” (also translated into italian by GB as “Rapporti dall’Impero” – Fazi Editore 2005)

please forgive my tongue in cheek method of addressing all of these conversations . i am only just a voice of the street , sidewalk and gutters of the roads i have travelled .
i like to talk and as i talk i think . i will look for the books but what i have just read on the link i posted talks of jews and muslims , french and greeks and turks and italians and chinese and governments of many countries as if it was a big plan . and my take is that some humans like to get stoned . and that banned products lead to individuals and groups looking for profit and for governments looking for advantage in the world order . now if i was a sunday school teacher i would talk about sinners and if i was a cop i would talk about criminals . if i was a mother i would talk about sick and misunderstood children . but i am none of these . i am just one of the ones who liked to get stoned . and as a traveller i found a way to do that and also turn a profit so that i could keep on the road .
so remember that all that i write are just words to fill in the page and that i know almost nothing about what i am talking about . like most stoners old or young .
some where someone said ‘ hope i die before i get old ‘
and the keyboard is something that makes me feel young enough to keep on going . and it is the one thing that i learned in the army that i still use on a day to day basis .
so as a student i am always looking for a teacher . and when i was in school i was not a very good student but i still remember my good teachers and try to follow what the good ones taught me .

as i remember we used to sing that around the fire at teenage waste land . site of the original full moon parties on anjuna beach . smoke a chillum and make another and smoke that . and then dance and drink and smoke some more . try to find acid paul with his bottle with the eye dropper for a dose or 2 and then do it all over again .
no personal responsibility those nights . maybe we were watching out for our friends but not for ourselves . but some of us made it out the other side and on to these pages . so may be it is just the historians who survived .
and we write the story of the dead and departed and the incarcerated .

No need for forgiveness, Jesse. We’re all voices of the street, and in this case I’m talking of something I read 30 (at least) years ago. I remeber the author talking about the CIA agents being paid off in heroin and stuff like that. Nothing really surprising under the sun, really. No big thing. You, having been in Viet Nam, probably know more of us “lucky” dodgers, or in my case, not at war. Just chances, if I had been born in the US, I would have probably ended up in Nam or left the country. Who knows? I was in the italian army around that time. Luckily we were not in war. Chances, as I say. Take care.

and the news of those war zones makes no mention of the troops using drugs . or of the cia or any other secret group . i wish i could believe that that was chance but i do not think that is the real reason . and we do not hear of the women of the night who show up in all battle fields . maybe in iraq and afghanistan there are wars without drugs and with out whores . now in the old days you would have trouble finding men to join the army if there were no drugs or whores . maybe the newspaper reporters are busy with some other story . or maybe all of other
NEW ARMY are clean and sober and know that god is watching them . yeah right . . . . .

life and story

April 25, 2009 by jesarchives

links i can send . whether they are art remains to be seen . i came to art as a collector . i was in india and started to see things . and some things i bought . i went back to the states in 73 or 74 for a month and stayed with friends in philly . everyone had these underground comic books in their bathrooms . so i brought a whole bunch of them back to goa . when i read them i thought of the story or the characters . but all of these french and german and italians who were hanging out in goa started to talk of the artists who made the books . what a revelation . so when i finally left asia and started to live in san francisco i ended up living close to this bar ‘ dick’s cafe ‘ . and it was the hangout for all of the comic artist , poets and others . bingo . i started buying . and one thing led to another . and then i ran into mailart . and to collect that kind of art you had to participate , so participate i did . and what a joy that was . slap one rubber stamp on a blank envelope , mail it and get a masterpiece in return . so one thing led to the next and my level of participation grew and so did my collection . then i ran into the spray paint and stencil crowd and they were young and also broke . so i bought that also . soon i had no room left . but i did not stop . and then i bought a typewriter so that this broke artist who was also a gallery girl type could start to catalog the collection . and then i started to use in for my mailart as i did not like the look of my handwriting at that time .

http://www.youtube.com/user/jesseedwards

in those days i still had a bit of the army training left in my fingers so i could do kind of a good job at the keyboard . that skill has since left my fingers but i make do with my own style of typing .

http://jesarchives.wordpress.com/

now for me all of these free web sites like myspace , FB , twitter , blogstream , bloglines , . . . . . . . are sketchbooks . it was this venice beach artist david hinnebusch who told me about myspace and he was the one who showed me that websites can be more that a cut and dried business method . check out hfilms.com or fakeart.net to get an idea of what he does . so i just started to play with idea and any time i heard of some new place i went there and created a presence and started to work and play with the format . i my self like the ones that allow a background image . just personal preference .

http://jesarchives.blogstream.com/

so i learned the difference about all of these sites and as i learned i played . as the web got bigger so did i . i also lost many sites to the changing nature of the web and to the changing nature of the log in requirements . so now i just use the same user name and same password and the same email address for all of them . and thank god for google . the history saver . also for the web archive dot org . using the web archive i have been able to save some of the work i did on defunct sites that i no longer own . . . . . . . . . .

just got the info from stuboy about how to use the disk utility feature on this mac book . so i tried it and it worked . stuboy said it is very very hot in india at the moment . stuboy also recommended some sites to visit for laptop repair . i went there but will have to use a credit card to make them do their work . also heard fro arthur in goa about the CRZ along the beach of anjuna . he is working on keeping his building standing . we wish him luck and send our prayers .
GIRISH is doing the word play these days , just like the ON THE ROAD man . so i played along and had some fun doing it . lots of things going on on the book of faces .
SUMMER is graduating and needs paper for her cards announcing the fact to the world . OPHELIA is leading a seminar about art pricing and avoiding being ripped off . wish i could be there .
we plan on going and seeing MICHAEL and his drums at the hotel opening tonight . somewhere past nathon on the island of koh samui .
all in all this has been a very interesting experience in thailand . we went up north to chiang mai and chiang rai and also pai . took some photos and ate some great food . met some new people and rode the scooters around the towns . went to temples and changed hotels , always looking for a better deal . the CHAT HOUSE in chiang rai was a cool place and we did talk a lot .
in the blender
